CLEP Camp: More Than College Credit—Building Confident Learners and Future Leaders
By Dr. Robinson

If your child is college-bound—or even thinking about college—this is the time to start preparing.
Not senior year.
Not junior year.
Now.
This summer, many families have already signed up for our Free CLEP Camp, and I want to share something important:
This is not just a camp about passing a test.
It’s about helping students become:
- Confident learners
- Strategic thinkers
- Independent scholars
And yes—students who can earn real college credit early.
Why CLEP Camp?
There has been a lot of conversation among parents about AP classes, dual enrollment, and CLEP.
Some families say:
- “My child isn’t a good test taker”
- “AP was stressful and didn’t pay off”
- “Dual enrollment feels safer”
I understand all of those perspectives.
But here’s what I want families to consider:
The issue is not the pathway—it’s preparation.
When students struggle with testing, it’s often because they have not yet been taught:
- How to study effectively
- How to retain information
- How to approach exams with confidence
That’s exactly what we address in CLEP Camp.
What Students Will Actually Learn
At CLEP Camp, we go beyond content.
We teach students how to learn.
Students will build:
- Study systems that work for high school and college
- Reading strategies that improve comprehension and speed
- Test-taking strategies that reduce anxiety and increase performance
- Time management and accountability habits
These are the same skills that support success on:
- CLEP exams
- ACT testing
- AP courses
- College classes
Yes, Students Can Earn College Credit
CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) allows students to earn college credit by passing an exam in subjects like:
- College Algebra
- College Composition
- Sociology
- Spanish
- Psychology
Through our partnership with Modern States Education Alliance, students can prepare for these exams at little to no cost.
That means:
- Less time in college
- Less tuition
- More flexibility in their college journey
What Makes This Camp Different
This is where CLEP Camp stands apart.
1. Study Skills Training (Not Just Content)
We don’t assume students know how to study—we teach them.
2. Community Service Opportunities
Students will not just learn—they will give back.
Participants can earn community service hours by:
- Tutoring peers or younger students
- Creating study guides and resources
- Helping spread awareness about college credit opportunities
When students teach, they learn at a deeper level.
3. Confidence Building for “Non-Test Takers”
Let’s address this directly:
There is no such thing as a “bad test taker.”
There are students who have not yet been trained.
CLEP Camp helps students:
- Reduce test anxiety
- Build confidence through practice
- Learn strategies that make testing feel manageable
4. A Real Plan for College Readiness
Students will leave with:
- A personalized study plan
- A CLEP testing pathway
- Improved academic habits
- A clearer vision for their future
It’s Not CLEP vs Dual Enrollment—It’s Both
I often tell families:
- Dual enrollment builds structure
- CLEP builds independence
- ACT preparation builds opportunity
The strongest students use a combination of all three.
A Personal Note
As a parent, I didn’t wait.
I started my own children with early college preparation, including ACT prep beginning in middle school. By combining strong study habits, strategic testing, and college credit opportunities, they were able to enter college ahead—and with financial benefits.
I’ve seen this work not just in my home, but with my students as well.
