How CLEP Camp Works at St. Charles Tutoring Lab

Families can register for CLEP Camp through:

  • St. Charles Tutoring Lab
  • St. Charles Tutoring Lab Scheduling Platform

After registering, students receive a Zoom link through the booking platform to attend weekly virtual CLEP Camp sessions.

Weekly CLEP Camp Schedule

Free Sunday CLEP Camp Sessions

  • Sundays at 10:30 AM Eastern
  • Virtual via Zoom
  • Open to registered students at no cost

During the initial orientation session, students:

  • Learn how the  Modern States platform works
  • Create pacing planners and progress trackers
  • Learn how to access course modules
  • Discuss how to choose a CLEP course
  • Determine whether CLEP is a good fit for their academic goals
  • Review expectations for pacing and course completion

What Students Do During Camp

After orientation, students continue attending Sunday CLEP Camp sessions where they:

  • Work independently on course modules
  • Receive accountability and guidance
  • Ask questions about course content and planning
  • Stay on track with their pacing goals

Students are encouraged to complete approximately 2–3 lessons per week in most courses. This pacing is discussed during orientation and documented in their individual pacing planner.

Optional Weekly Drop-In Support

Additional CLEP support sessions are available during the week for a small fee:

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
  • 12:00 PM Eastern
  • 4:00 PM Eastern

These sessions allow students to:

  • Ask questions
  • Receive additional support
  • Study alongside peers
  • Stay accountable to their goals

What Happens After Students Finish the Course?

Once students:

  • Complete the Modern States course material
  • Pass the required quizzes
  • Complete the assessments within the modules

They become eligible to receive a CLEP exam voucher through Modern States.

Students then schedule their CLEP exam at a testing center, which is often located on a college or university campus.

Most CLEP exams award approximately 3 college credit hours when passed.

In many cases, students need a score of 50 (similar to earning a “C”) to receive college credit.

Important Notes for Families

  • Students who need more than the planned 9 weeks may continue working in the Modern States platform.
  • Students are also welcome to continue participating with St. Charles Tutoring Lab for ongoing support.
  • Information about accepted scores, participating colleges, transfer credit policies, and course equivalencies can be found through  Modern States and is discussed during camp sessions.
