The Strategies We Used at Home — And Why We’re Finally Sharing Them

There comes a moment when you realize the thing you quietly practiced at your own kitchen table may actually help someone else.

For years, St. Charles Tutoring Lab was never just about tutoring. It was about preparation, vision, strategy, sacrifice, and helping students understand that college planning starts long before senior year.

And now, as a mother, I’m standing in a season that feels emotional, rewarding, and deeply full-circle.

My son is graduating college as an honors research scholar.

My daughter is graduating high school already nearly 50% complete with college.

Neither of my children will need student loans.

In fact, my son received excess scholarship and grant funding during college, and we are expecting a similar outcome for my daughter.

That did not happen accidentally.

It happened through years of intentional planning, early testing, strategic course selection, dual enrollment opportunities, scholarship positioning, CLEP preparation, and learning how to navigate systems many families are never taught to use.

And honestly?

I think it’s time we start sharing more of that journey.

Why CLEP Camp Matters

Tomorrow begins another exciting step for us: CLEP Camp.

What excites me most is not just the possibility of earning college credit.

It’s the possibility of helping families realize:

  • college preparation can start earlier
  • scholarships are often connected to strategy
  • testing does not have to be feared
  • students can build confidence over time
  • families do not have to wait until senior year to make a plan

At  St. Charles Tutoring Lab, we are working to help families understand the “why” behind the strategies.

Not pressure.

Not panic.

Preparation.

The Truth Most Families Learn Too Late

Many families are working incredibly hard, but they simply were never shown another pathway.

We were told:

  • go to school
  • get good grades
  • apply to college
  • take out loans

But there are additional strategies families can learn:

  • ACT preparation starting early
  • CLEP exams
  • dual enrollment
  • scholarship positioning
  • academic planning
  • understanding timelines
  • maximizing opportunities before graduation

These strategies changed the financial future of my own children.

That is why we created the resources, books, webinars, sessions, and camps through  St. Charles Tutoring Lab Resources.

What We’re Sharing With Families

Through our books, workshops, virtual sessions, and programs, we are helping families learn:

  • how to prepare earlier
  • how to reduce college costs
  • how to earn college credit in high school
  • how to approach ACT preparation strategically
  • how to build long-term academic confidence
  • how to create intentional college pathways

Some of the resources we’re especially excited about include:

Because preparation is not just for students.

Families need support too.

This Is Bigger Than Test Prep

At the heart of everything we do is something much deeper.

We want students to believe:

  • they are capable
  • they can learn
  • opportunities belong to them too
  • preparation creates options
  • education can become freedom instead of debt

And as we celebrate this graduation season in our own family, we are incredibly grateful to now help other families build their own stories too.

Tomorrow starts another journey: CLEP Camp.

Another opportunity.

Another family learning what’s possible.

And honestly…

we’re just getting started.
