Introducing the Learn. Love. Inspire. National Future Leaders Institute

Developing Future Leaders Through Service, Innovation, and Community Impact What if students could spend part of their summer building leadership skills, exploring future careers, learning scholarship strategies, and creating solutions to real-world challenges? That vision is now a reality. The Learn. Love. Inspire. National Future Leaders Institute is a new virtual leadership experience designed to help students ages 13–18 develop the confidence, skills, and mindset needed to succeed in college, careers, and life. Presented by the Johnel Bryant Robinson Foundation and St. Charles Tutoring Lab , this program combines leadership development, career exploration, college readiness, entrepreneurship, and community impact into one engaging experience. Why We Created This Program Too often, students are told to wait until college to become leaders. We believe leadership begins now. Students do not need to wait until they graduate to solve problems, serve their communities, or develop...

CLEP Camp Week 3 Update: College Credit, Career Exploration, and Student Success

Week 3 of CLEP Camp continued to showcase the power of intentional learning, academic planning, and community. This week, students from New York, Ohio, Texas, and Louisiana joined us as we continued working through our CLEP and college readiness goals. Together, students advanced through Module 3 of their coursework while creating three new Blooket review games and study guides designed to strengthen understanding and improve retention. Current areas of study include: • Spanish • Psychology • Biology • College Algebra In addition to CLEP preparation, we also spent time helping a student prepare for the upcoming ACT exam. At St. Charles Tutoring Lab, we believe college readiness is not limited to a single pathway. Whether students are pursuing CLEP exams, ACT scores, dual enrollment opportunities, scholarships, or career exploration, our goal is to help them build a personalized plan for success. One of the highlights of the week was a discussion about careers in dentistry. After ...

Week 2 of CLEP Camp Is Underway: Students Are Already Making Progress

Even during Memorial Day weekend, students across multiple states are continuing to show up and put in the work during our Summer CLEP Camp at St. Charles Tutoring Lab . This week, students from New York , Illinois , and Louisiana have continued progressing through their CLEP coursework with intentionality and focus. One of our newest participants is preparing to CLEP Spanish and is already working through Lesson 8. What makes this especially exciting is that the student is only entering the 9th grade this fall. This is exactly why we encourage families to start early. Awareness creates opportunity, and early exposure allows students to build confidence long before senior year pressures begin. Another student, who is working through Biology, officially began lessons this week after attending orientation during Week 1. Students are learning how to navigate Modern States, pace themselves appropriately, and work toward completing college-level material step-by-step throughout th...

Raising ACT Scores One Strategy at a Time

One test score does not define a student’s future — but strategy can absolutely change the outcome. Today at  St. Charles Tutoring Lab, we were reminded that it is never too late to become intentional about preparation. One of our seniors spent time working through the ACT Master Strategy Guide, focusing specifically on reading strategies designed to help students improve comprehension, pacing, and confidence. Along with the guide, he is also using the interactive games, targeted practice activities, and practice tests available through our system to strengthen his performance before test day. Too often, students believe: “I should have started earlier.” “I’m behind.” “It’s too late to improve.” But growth can still happen when students begin to approach the ACT with strategy instead of stress. The truth is: Many students are intelligent enough to score higher long before they actually do. What they often lack is structure, repetition, timing awareness, and test-...

Why Rising 9th Graders Should Start ACT Prep This Summer

At  St. Charles Tutoring Lab, one of the biggest lessons we’ve learned as parents and educators is simple: The students who start preparing early often have more options later. That is exactly why our upcoming ACT Camp is open to rising 9th graders. Many families assume the ACT is “something to worry about later,” but students who begin building skills early often experience: Less stress in high school Stronger academic confidence Better scholarship opportunities More familiarity with testing More time to improve scores gradually The ACT is not just a senior-year test. It is a skills-based exam connected to reading, math, science reasoning, and writing abilities students are already developing in middle school and early high school. Why Start in 9th Grade? Rising 9th graders are at a powerful stage academically. This is when students begin: Algebra foundations that appear on the ACT Higher-level reading comprehension Science interpretation skills Time management ...
